Embed a Looping Autoplay YouTube Video on Squarespace
A simple approach to liven up your Squarespace website is with autoplay movies or animated gifs. The use of youtube auto play (https://tubeloop.io/) is ideal for showing content because they instantly grab your readers' attention.
concise tutorials
demos of products
highlight reels of events or journeys
Messages of importance for your readers
Reduced prices
plus a lot more!
However, gifs and movies can be fairly huge, which is a drawback. Your website will inevitably load slowly if you add several animated gifs or movies to a page.
Additionally, videos quickly consume your Squarespace storage space. You can only post videos that are no longer than 30 minutes on Squarespace. You must pay for more media storage if you want to watch videos for longer.
To prevent this, try embedding a YouTube video that starts playing automatically as soon as the page loads and plays repeatedly once it is finished.
I demonstrate how to do this on your own Squarespace website in the following video. Below is a list of the code used in the video.

Update: Squarespace video embed code for 2022
Since I recorded this video, Squarespace has significantly changed their editor, switching from the old classic editor to the new fluid engine editor.
Because of these modifications, you can no longer embed autoplay movies on your Squarespace website using a video block.
Nevertheless, you can still do that to upload or embed a standard video.
The "Embed" block must be added to your page if you want to embed an autoplay video on your Squarespace website. This block shares a lot of similarities with the "Video" block in terms of appearance, and it still gives you the choice of pasting the embed code or your video URL.
It's as easy to do once you add an embed block as it is to follow my tutorial's instructions! The code mentioned above should be copied and pasted into the embed area. Then substitute the string of letters and numbers designating your YouTube video for the asterisks.

Guidelines for Squarespace's YouTube autoplay
Make sure you are optimizing the experience for your website visitors before putting YouTube autoplay movies on your Squarespace website.
Your autoplay videos to muted.
Nobody likes it when they access a website and a video starts playing loudly through their laptop speakers! Because of this, autoplay videos are typically blocked by web browsers unless they are muted or silent. The code snippet I have provided above automatically mutes your autoplay videos for you to ensure that they won't be blacklisted.
Put subtitles in.
It's a good idea to make sure your YouTube video includes subtitles because your autoplay video will be muted. Enabling subtitles guarantees that viewers of your website who frequently mute videos will still see the video's content.
Keep it brief!
When visitors arrive on your page, autoplay videos are a terrific method to attract their interest. However, if your films are too long and don't have interesting information, you run the risk of losing viewers' interest quickly. Your viewers can become irritated with you, leaving your website rather than sticking on it.
It's simple to add some flavor to your Squarespace website by adding looping autoplay YouTube videos. Video autoplay isn't always the ideal option for your material, though. It is up to you to choose whether it is better for the video to be set to autoplay when it is included in your Squarespace website or to be displayed often so that users can click on it to start playing.
