Josef's refugee journey timeline

The nazi soldiers barged in Josef's home and ruined all their belongings. They also kidnaped his father and sent him to a jewish concentration camp.

their father called them and said he would be released if they left the country within 14 days.

Josef and his family are invisible and everyone discriminates against them. Josef was curious and wanted to see if people really knew that they were Jew and he was lucky to be able to get away with it.

They meet their father and immediately noticed that he looked like he feared for his life. Everyone was really welcoming and the boat was filled with Jews. They boarded the ship and set sea to Havana

Josef turns 13 and finally becomes a jewish man. His father stayed in the cabin cowering and hiding from the rest of the ship, too scared to even see his own son's bar mitzvah. Josef notices that the captain is open minded and a kind man. He also notices that some of the crew members scowl and project anger to the jews.

His father attempts to commit suicide, after recovering from a recent attack by the ships nazi firemen. the police mistake for him trying to escape to cuba and save his life. His father is sent to a cuban hospital and they have to leave him behind when their application to dock in cuba is denied. Mean while the MS St. louis sets sail to miami

The MS St. louis is not allowed to dock in america and sails on

The MS St. louis throws a party to celebrate. Josef and his family live in france for the next year.
