The Beginning

2000 B.C

The first game involving a ball and a bat is played by Ancient Egyptians.

"Rounders"

1800 - 1850

People spot a game being played by children, called "Rounders". The game of Rounders is what sparked the idea of baseball.

The invention of "Base Ball"

1845

The first book of modern rules was invented by Alexander J. Cartwright.

First Pro Baseball Team

1869

The Cincinnati Red Stockings become the first pro team. Amazingly, there team is still together, but is called the Cincinnati Reds.

The First World Series

1903

Boston Beats Pittsburgh in the first World Series, (For those of you that don't know, the World Series is baseball's "championship".), 5-3.

Play Ball!

1914

William Howard Taft is the first president to throw out the first pitch of a season.

First Game On The Radio

1921

KDKA Radio Station airs the first MLB game.

First All-Star Game

1933

The first MLB All-Star game took place on July 6, 1933.

The Baseball Hall Of Fame

1939

The Baseball Hall Of Fame opens, honoring all the players who were highly successful in the MLB.

First Game On T.V.

1939

NBC televises the first MLB game on T.V.

First Black Player

1947 - 1956

Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier in the MLB. He was treated good by his team, but other teams hated him, despite his greatness at baseball.

1992

The Houston Astros go on a record-breaking 28-game road trip, coast to coast.

The Streak Has Ended

1995

Cal Ripken Jr. breaks Lou Gehrig's record of consecutive games played with 2,131 games.

Still Thriving

2013

Today, baseball is still thriving.There are a lot of fancier, newer equipment and ballparks. Those are just a few facts about baseball's past. Today, baseball is at it's peak, and it doesn't seem to be getting worse.
