Archduke Francis Ferdinand was a royal from Austria-Hungary who went to visit the culturally conflicted and tense area of Sarajevo. Many attempts on his life were planned by a nationalist group called the Black Hand who wanted to not be a part of Austira-Hungary, but join Yugoslavia or Serbia, or have their own country. Gavril Princip was the one to one to assassinate Ferdinand and his wife after their car took a wrong turn down a street. This threw Europe into World War One because of military alliances and the nationalist moods of many ethnic groups.
