The Battle of Tours was a war against the Islamic army led by Emir Abdul. They were opposed by Frankish forces led by Charles Martel. The Frankish victory allowed Charles Martel to come into power leading the Franks.
Death of Charles Martel
This event kept the Carolingian family in power as the two sons of Charles took power over the franks. The two sons Pippin and Carloman split the realm between themselves. Pippin would be the only one of the two to continue his rein in the future.
Birth of Charlemagne
Charlemagne was the child of Pippin the Short and Bertrada of Laon. Charlemagne is known for his time as Emperor and being a great conqueror. Due to his status, this day is quite relevant.
Peppin the Short is becomes king of the Franks
After Peppin’s brother Carloman abdicated the throne Peppin the short became the sole ruler of the realm. This put Charlemagne on the path to rule the franks. The realm was again divided after Peppin’s death in (768)

The death of Peppin the short put his son Charles or Charlemagne. Charlemagne’s biggest known quality was his ideal of expansion of the Frankish kingdom. The secondary goal was to convert all people under his rule to Christianity.
Battle of Roncevaux Pass
This battle is known as Charlemagne’s greatest defeat. A large force of Basques ambushed Charlemagne's army in Roncevaux Pass. This was a retaliation of the destruction of the city walls of Pamplona.
Conquest of the Lombard Kingdom
This was one of the biggest victories for Charlemagne as the Lombard Kingdom was very large in size. This was a large expanse in the land the Franks controlled. The Carolingian family is known for the wars they were a part of but this was a great achievement for Charlemagne as a leader.
Charlemagne becomes emperor of Rome
Charlemagne had a strong relationship with the Christian church giving money and land away. On Christmas day Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne emperor of Rome. During his time as emperor Charlemagne put a lot of emphasis on education and culture enriching his people.
Death of Charlemagne
Charlemagne ignored advice from his doctors and greatly disliked them for their suggestions on how he should take care of himself. Louis the Pious over as emperor in his father's place. This would be known as the mark of the downfall of the Carolingian empire.

Louis’ reign was fraught with issues at the very start and he even rid of his father’s valued advisors. This was a battle between the family of the Carolingian empire over the rule of the empire. This civil war took place between Louis the Pious, Charles the Bald, Lothar, Peppin, and Louis the German.
