Although the Missouri Compromise sparked a part of the civil war(1820-1865), the Missouri Compromise also created other conflicts. The Missouri Compromise was meant to make a balance between the states. They did this by equally dividing the country into non-slave states and slave states. By adding Missouri to the U.S.A. , the south had one more state than the North. Adding Maine as a free state made things equal again. Another conflict that the Missouri Compromise created was between the Abolitionists. The abolitionist were a small group of Americans who were against slavery.
Therefore they were opposed to the Missouri Compromise, since it would be adding one more free state to America.
