On December 17 1903 two brothers that were aviation pioneers flew the first plane with a sustained and controlled flight, they named their plane after themselves it was named the Wright flyer.
In 1906, an aviation pioneer named Santos Dumont added ailerons to his plane to achieve more stability, from this first plane Dumont built he kept developing them until they could fly at over 100km/h.
Also in 1913, a man named Hugo Junkers almost re-invented airplanes. He is to be credited for the first ever cantilever wings on airplanes, he built an all metal airplane and it was also the first ever low winged monoplane, he called his plane the J-13.
In 1913, a Russian named Igor Sikorsky, built the first ever large multi-engines airplane, he named it the Russkiy Vitaz which translates to Russian knight.
1930 - 1937
In 1930, A brittish Inventor named Frank Whittle invented the jet engine, he first tested the jet engine in 1937.
In Germany in 1939 the Germans invented the first ever jet propelled aircraft called the Heikel 178
In 1947 a pilot named Charles Yeager flew the first plane that exceeded the speed of sound
1976 - 2003
In 1976 the Concorde jet first operated, it was a supersonic jet airliner that flew at over twice the speed of sound, the plane operated until 2003 because it had many problems that caused it to explode when in operation.
In 2005 Airbus introduced the A380, this plane was aimed to break the dominance of the Boeing 747 on the aviation game. It is powered by four roles royce jet engines and has a wing span of 80 metres.
2015 - January 5, 2015
In 2015, André Borschberg flew 7212 km in a solar-powered plane, from Nagoya, Japan to Honolulu, the flight took about 5 days and at night the plane used its batteries to continue flying.
