41-42 Queer citizens of Mexico organized a secret party or drag ball. Many of them came to the party in makeup or cross-dressing, and some believed the son in law of President Diaz, Ignacio del la Torre y Mier, was one of the guests. The dance was raided by government officials and the men were sent to prison.

Chavela was said to have had an affair with famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. This occurred while Chavela stayed at Diego Rivera and Frida's home. Many do not want to believe that this actually happened due to them being homophobic, but both women had many woman partners before.

The mayor, Ernesto Uruchurtu, began to close all the gay bars in Mexico. He explained that he was doing it to, "clean up vice", but in reality he was blackmailing the LGBT+ community and threatening to arrest all of them. Mexico's police force had a history of persecuting the LGBT+ community.

In Latin America, Frente de Liberacion Homosexual was one of the first LGBT+ groups created in response to the cruel treatment of those in the community. Supposedly, the group was created right after a man was fired from Sears due to his sexual orientation.

The pride parade occurred in Mexico City, 1979. More than thousand people came to the parade and after that parade, the future parades brought awareness to HIV/AIDS, homophobia, LGBT+ adoption, and etc.

Governor of the state Chiapas, Patrocinio Gonzalez Garrido, passed a law that did not allow any to cross dress in Mexico as a 'public health law'. This caused the trans community in Mexico to be in danger. Between July 1991-Jan 1993, many murders of LGBT+ citizens began to happen.
