Jamestown is a settlement located in Virginia and is the first English settlement in North America. Jamestown is famous for its production of tobacco because it allowed them to become a profitable area. The English's relationship with the Indians was friendly when they arrived to America but then turned towards hatred when the English tried to take over the Indians land.
1650 - 1673

The Navigation Acts restrict colonial trade to make their trade exclusively with Britain, which the colonists refused to abide by and led to smuggling. It served as Britain's attempt to monopolize the colonies through the colonial trade but they failed. The failed because it impeded with necessary trade from other nations.

Bacon's Rebellion occurred due to an unsuitable ruler and raised taxes. Governor Berkeley made an agreement with the Indians that favor his friends and had an unfair taxing system, which overall displeased the poor creating a bigger division between the two classes. With Bacon's leadership others rallied with him and issued a "Declaration of the People"
1730 - 1740

The Great Awakening was the first great religious revival spitting up American Christianity even further. Men like Whitefield and Edwards preach a much different doctrine, but both tell of one's personal connection with God, and that all men must seek salvation. This revival would birth the old and new lights who were split on doctrine. While this Awakening would split up many Protestant doctrines it would increase their overall unity.

The Stono Rebellion was the largest slave revolt in the British colonies. A band of about 20 slaves raided an arms store and killed their white masters in efforts to escape, however were chased and shot down before being able to get away. This rebellion reinforced slavery by showing that those who rebel, get killed.
June 19 1754 - July 11 1754

Called by the British this meeting by American delegates was to discuss defense plans against the French threat and on achieving better relations with the Natives. It was the first instance of colonial unity and the first instance of a shared American conscious. The model of this meeting would be copied in later dates, especially in the first continental congress. The first bits of unity of this delegation sparked could be seen as the start of the prelude to Revolution
1756 - 1763

The French and Indian War was fought between France and Britain over the Ohio River Valley. Under the command of George Washington, the British attacked Fort Duquesne (French fort) which was established to protect the Ohio River valley, however Washington failed until William Pitt stepped in. Pitt's new war strategies allowed for the British to defeat the French snd ultimately win the war.

It prevented the colonists from expanding westward past the Appalachian Mountains. Britain could not afford to hire soldiers to protect the colonists. The colonists were starting to crowd and overpopulate, the refusal to let them expand westward led to resentment.
