The photograph was invented by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1827.A photograph produced art that replicated its subject much more than the more subjective ways of paintings. Photography during this time became the most important way of visual expression due to its speed and potential to produce much more easily. Photographs where essentially a big upgrade towards paintings because it showed what actually the subject of the picture was doing instead of someone's interpretation of it from a painting. However a photographic artist had no control over their subjects and whatever they took a picture of was that picture where a painter has total control to paint or draw what they saw of their subject.
