Softball began of Thanksgiving day when several alumni sat around waiting to see the winner of the Yale vs Harvard game. The first game was played indoors at a Farragut boat in Chicago.

The first outdoor version was invented by someone named Lewis Rober Sr., for the Minneapolis firefighters but was referred to as 'kitten ball'
The Joint Rules Committee was made after softball had traveled from the US to Canada. it was to make sure the rules were standardized between each country.
The sport had started to take on its keen role for being a fast pitch sport, but in 1953 the committee made it compulsory to be slow pitch.
The game had made its way to Europe. and was heavily popular.
The Detroit Caesars were the first to win a professional game of the Professional Softball series.
the American Professional Slow Pitch League, was the first to compete in a professional softball game.
Today's game has reverted back to its fast pitch pace, while some leagues do slow pitch it is much more common to find a past pitch league.
