Founded in 1946 in Boston.

1956 - 1957

The Celtics advanced to the NBA Finals and defeated the St. Louis Hawks in seven games, giving the Celtics the first of their record 17 NBA Championships.

1957 - 1958

In 1958, the Celtics again advanced to the NBA Finals, this time losing to the Hawks in 6 games

Domination

1957 - 1969

From 1957 to 1969, the Celtics dominated the league winning eleven championships in thirteen years, and eight in a row (1959–1966), the longest consecutive streak of any North American professional sports team.

In 1959, with Cousy at point guard, Russell at center and Heinsohn at forward, the Celtics won the NBA Championship after sweeping the Minneapolis Lakers.[

On February 2nd, it was annouced that Jared Sullinger would miss the rest of the season due to having back surgery to cure back spasms.

Rondo is out.

On January 27, 2013, it was revealed that Rajon Rondo had tore the ACL on his right knee and would miss the rest of the season along with part of next season.
