When people were unsure if 16 bit computers were able to distinguish between the year 1900 and 2000. People feared that airplanes would fall out of the sky, and computers would all crash causing a world wide crisis. Luckily, we aren’t struggling to rebuild civilization today and the Y2K bug never was an issue.

One of, if not the most controversial, election in American history. Bush v Gore went down to whoever won Florida. Unfortunately, Floridas election system was flawed and thousndas of votes were deemed as “uneligable.” Eventually, the Supreme Court decided on the victor (Geroge Bush).

Directly after the attacks of September 11th, 2001 president George W. Bush declared a Worldwide ‘War on Terror.’ As a result, many nations joined the US in this fight (the US claimed ‘you are either with us or against us’). Many adopted harsh new laws, and small military operations became routine in the Middle East.

Al-Qaeda terrorist attacked the United States. The North and South Tower of the World Trade Center, The Pentagone, and a 3rd in Shanksville Pennsylvania were all the locations of air plane hijackings. Over 3,000 people died that day, and over 6,000 were injured. This made it the deadliest terrorist attack in human history and the second bloodiest on American soil.

Not only changed the way we listened to music, but changed the whole music industry. Because of this product, many company’s went under, and many 3rd party music downloaders grew in recognition. It paved the way for new technology to become one with our lives.

Was signed into law by Geroge W. Bush. It was meant to close the achievement gap between poor and minority students. Under the NCLB law, states must test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8 and once in high school. This made a statement throughout America that we, as a country, wanted to educate everyone.

NASA Space shuttle Colombia disintegrated while returning to Earth and killed all 7 on board. NASA suspended all space shuttle flights for over 2 years as it investigated the disaster. It was the second time in NASAs history a space shuttle exploded on them. It horrified the nation and confused many on why this happened.

A very controversial decision, America invades Iraq under the suspicion that the Iraq administration had "Weapons of mass destruction." The leader of Iraq, dictator Saddam Hussein, was seen a an evil man and the Americans wanted to get him out of power. By invading the Iraq, the middle east was thrown into further conflict. Eventually, they pulled out of Iraq and never found those weapons of mass destruction.

The dictator of Iraq was found guilty of crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to death by hanging, and the people of the US and Iraq rejoiced. People had videos and pictures of his hanging and were leaked on the internet with the world to see.
