Eastern Woodland Indians

800 BC - 800 AD

The eastern woodland indians like other tribes relied on natural food sources for their everyday needs. There were many different tribes in the Eastern Woodlands Indians, there was the Powhatan, Mohawk, Iroqoius, and the Susquehanna.

Triangular Slave Trade

1500 - 1800

The triangular slave trade carried slaves, manufactured goods, and cash crops between West Arica, Caribbean and American colonies.

Port Royal

1518

Was a location in South Carolina and the battle of port royal was fought there

San Miguel de Gualdape

1526 - 1527

The first European settlement in the Unites States Territory was San Miguel de Gualdape. San Miguel de Gualdape was abandoned in a year after it was settled because the black and Indian population was diseased and famine.

Mercantilism

1558 - 1603

Mercantilism is the economic doctrine that gave government control of foreign trade is of paramount importance for ensuring the military security of the country.

13 English Colonies

1607 - 1733

Each colony had its on self- governing system. Most of the people in the colonies were farmers who voted locally for provincial government.

Proprietary Colony

1660 - 1690

A proprietary colony is a colony run by private people who are accomidated with the same powers of the government.

Rice and Indigo Trade

1680 - 1700

The Rice and Indigo Trade traded between England and the southern colonies

Cotten was traded to places around the world

Yamasee War

1715 - 1717

Was a war between Native American tribes and southern settlers.

Royal Colony

1720 - 1729

a colony ruled or administered by officials appointed by and responsible to the reigning sovereign of the parent state.

Stono Rebellion

1739 - 1740

On September 9th the largest slave rebellion occurred. It was against the slaves and their owners. It happened near Stono River in South Carolina.

French and Indian War

1756 - 1763

This war was between Austria, England, France, Great Britain, Prussia, and Sweden. They had the war in India, Europe and North America. The British victory leaded to the Treaty of Paris.

Cherokee War

1758 - 1761

The Cherokee war was between North America the British and the Cherokee tribes. They fought over

Sugar Act

1764 - 1766

The sugar act was passed by the British parliament. They made an act for it because parliament put a ¢3 taxon sugar

Regulator Movement

1764 - 1771

The regulator movement had two groups one in North Carolina and one in South Carolina, they tried to change governmental things

Sons of Liberty

1765

The sons of liberty orginally came together to proteste against the stamp act, but ended up protesting over a lot of other issues

Stamp Act

1765

It was an act that said that most printed paper was made on stamped paper and was made in London

Tea Act

1773 - 1861

The tea act tried to get control over the tea trade in America and help the British East Indian company

Revolutinary War

1775 - 1783

It was between the 13 colonies and the kingdom of Great britian.

Decleration of Independence

1776 - 2013

The deleration of inependence stated that the american colonies were not apart of the British empire anymore. They were independent states until they formed one big nation called The United States of Ameica

This document states how south carolina is governed. It tells you the functions and the structure of south carolina

Articles of Confederation

1777 - 1781

It was an agreement with the 13 original colonies that established the United states of America as a confederation of sovereign states. The articles of confederation were kind of like there first constitution

Battle of Camden

1780 - 1781

It was the turning point of the revolutiony war. The british had a huge victory by winning that battle.

Battle of Kings Mountain

1780 - 1781

This was a batlle between the loyalists and the patriots. The battle took place 9 miles south of kings mountain in a little town called York Town, South Carolina.The patriots eventually won against the loyalists.

Battle of Cowpens

1781 - 1782

it was the marked a time when south carolina looked strong again and less vulnerable

Battle of Eutaw Springs

it was one of the last battles in the carolinas

Commerce Compromise

1783

The commerce compromise is what happens when the constitution lets the federal government not tax the exports but will tax imports

Great Compromise

1787 - 1790

two hundred representatives and senators got on a special train that took them to philadelphia

it was a little more than a 2 and a half year war between the british empire and america, because of the trade restrictions

were codes that each us state had that stated the rights of the slaves and their owners

the point of the movement was to fre slaves and stop slavery

it was a big crisis between andrew jackson and john c calhoun, whether you could nullify a law

Robert Smalls

He was a slave that became a ships pilot

It was an act that people in the kansas and Nebraska territories chose if they wanted slavery or not

The Supreme Court made a decision when dred Scott fought against them to get freedom

Election of 1860

1860 - 1861

When Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860 it was a major turn point in America

Secessionist

Somebody who joins a secession is a secessionist

Creation of the Confederate States of America

When sou Carolina seceded from the US is when the creation of the confederate states formed

Was a war where you could use any weapons and how you used them was up to you. This war was totally different from all the others

It was caused because the north wanted to ban slavery but the south liked slavery, so the north and south went to war
