Triangle slave trade

1450 - 1750

The triangle slave trade was a route that the occurred between Africa, England, and the America's. slaves were forced on ships to work for the America's. The America's produced cotton and other materials that were sold to England. These routes formed a triangle on a map and was later called the triangle slave trade.

Eastern Woodland Indians

1491 - 1492

The eastern woodland Indians have been around for a long time in the America's. this time period was when the colonies moved west towards the Mississippi River. This forced the Indians to abandon their villages or fight. This occurred in a years period of time.

San Miguel de Gualdape

1526 - 1527

San Miguel de Gualdape was the first European settlement inside what is now United States territory founded by Spaniard Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón in 1526. It was to last only three months of winter before being abandoned in early 1527.

13 English colonies

1607 - 1732

In 1609 London obtained a large amount of land in the America's. they called these the thirteen colonies. Any one was able to live there but had to obey the laws of the king.

Mercantilism

Mercantilism is an economic idea. basically that helps the trading economy to be balancd and to have high tariffs on things.

Proprietary Colony

a propeirty colony was basically a law that the person who owns the property must obey what they can do to it by the state unless told otherwise. although in most cases they were allowed to do these after permission

Rice and indigo trade

1680 - 1730

Rice and indigo was grown successfully in South Carolina as early as 1680. By the early 18th century, with the slave system established on a large scale, rice and indigo became a major export crop of the region.

Yemasse war

1715 - 1717

the yemasse war was a conflict between British settlers of colonial South Carolina and various Native American Indian tribes.the indian tribes were mad they were losing their land to the colonists and retalieated.

Stono rebellion

1739 - 1740

The Stono Rebellion sometimes called Cato’s Conspiracy or Cato’s Rebellion was a slave rebellion that happened on the 9th of September 1739, in the colony of South Carolina. It was the largest slave uprising.

royal colony

A Crown colony, also known in the 17th century as royal colony, was a type of colonial administration of the English and later British Empire. also explained as a colony ruled by the british.

French and Indian war

1754 - 1763

This was actually a war between the British and the French. In 1756 the war escalated from regional to a worldwide war.

Cherokee War

1758 - 1761

At the beginning of the settlement of the British, the Cherokee and the red coats became allies. The British betrayed them and the Indians retaliated in war.

Sugar act

1764 - 1765

The sugar act was a law theory that was put into use. They thought they if they cut the tariff expenses in half but enforce it strictly they would recieve more money than they have been.

Regulator movement

1765 - 1771

This occurred in north and South Carolina. The citizens had an uprising against the colonial officials with bared arms.

Stamp act

1765 - 1766

The stamp act was established in 1765. This was a tax established on all stamps in the colonies.

Sons of liberty

1765 - 1783

The sons of liberty were originally a group of shoemakers and artisans. As they grew they became known as the sons of liberty. They were public speakers and people who persuaded others.

Tea act

1775 - 1781

The tea act was not actually a tax. It was a plan of the British. They sold the tea to the colonies for a bargain price. They did this to make a profit.

Declaration of Independence

1775 - 1776

The Declaration of Independence was written in Philadelphia. This was a pice that stated that the colonies were now independent from the British. It was talked about for a year and finally written on July 4th 1776

Revolutionary war

The revolutionary war was a war between the British and the colonists. The war was started by the colonists because they wanted their independence from Britain. They won this war by using gorilla warfare techniques.

South Carolina constitution of 1776

The legislature renamed itself the general assembly of South Carolina. The president was John Rutledge. The constitution was written because they wanted their own rules and laws separate from the national government.

The articles of confederation was the first constitution of the United States. This stated that the states could have more control to their states.

The battle of Camden was was a battle in the revolutionary war. This was a major win for the British. It took place in Camden, South Carolina.

The battle of kings mountain was another battle of the revolutionary war that took place in South Carolina. This was an important American victory.

Battle of cowpens

This was another battle of the revolutionary war. It was an American victory. Is took place at the South Carolina and North Carolina border. It helped the Americans to capture back South Carolina.

Battle of eutaw springs

It was the last major battle in the Carolina's. It was a plan to end the British control over South Carolina. In the end the American forces would regain control of South Carolina.

The three fifths compromise would make three fifths of the slave population count for representation purposes. This was established in 1787.

It was established at the constitutional convection. It was a compromise between the north and the south about tariffs and taxes.

The great compromise was also known as the Connecticut compromise. It combined the New Jersey plan and the Virginia plan.

The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney. At first it was a positive thing but later forced more slaves into the cotton industry.

It put a tax on all shipping goods coming from Great Britain. This was a negative outcome for the Americans.

This was a conflict between the us and Great Britain. This resolved many issues from the revolutionary war.

1820 - 1891

william t sherman was a major leader of the union states. He had a plan called total war where they went through the south and desrtoyed everything in thir path.

The denmark vesey plan

Denmark vesey was born in 1767 and as he got older he was witnessing slavery. He planed many uprising to stop slavery.

Abolitionist movement

The abolitionist movement was an attempt to end all segregation and discrimination. Many people participated to be an abolitionist.

This was a major conflict between Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun. It was over tariffs and Great Britain.

Robert smalls

Robert Smalls was an enslaved African American who, during and after the American Civil War, became a ship's pilot, sea captain, and politician.

Slave codes were established in 1848. They were made to protect the slaves in which the slave owners could not be as abusive.

This act created territories of Kansas and Nebraska, opening a new settlement. The colonists spreaded to the west

dred scott descision

the dred scott desicsion is also known as dred scott vs. sandford.was a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. It stated that the federal government had no power to regulate slavery in the territories, and that the blacks and were not protected by the Constitution and U.S. citizens.

This election was a major one to help the conflict of slavery. This was between Abraham Lincoln and James k. polk.

A sucessionist is the act of breaking away fom an organization. In this case the southern states broke away from the united states.

Before and during the civil war America produced almost 70 percent of cotton in the world. This mainly came from the south. They were producing some much because if slavery.

Total war was a strategie used by the union in the civil war to help win. It was lead by William T. Sherman and was to advance through the south and demolish everything in thier path.

Lincolns assassanation

Abraham lincoln was assassinated after the civil war. It took place in the Ford theatre and was commited by John Wilkes Booth.
