Mercantilism

1400 - 1700

Mercantilism lasted from the 15th century to the 18th century.Mercantilism was thought of very much in Europe and made people think of imperialism and made people want to expand Europe into farther territory's.

Eastern woodland Indians

1500 - 1800

The eastern woodland Indians extended from England to Maine and lived in forests or near lakes.Their shelter was something of a log house and their food was the things they hunted like bears and moose their clothing was made from animal skin they also had ceremonies.

San Miguel de Gualdape

1526 - 1527

San Miguel Gualdape was the first European settlement in the United States.The European settlement only
Lasted a year and was founded by Lucas Vazquez de Ayllon.

Triangle slave trade

1600 - 1800

The triangle slave trade effected 3 continents the continents were Asia Africa and Europe. Many years later when there technology advanced Europe went across the sea with 300,000 soldiers and took Africans and made them slaves.

Plantation system

1600 - 1800

The plantation system was also known as the social control system.Most plantation were specialized in 1 crop like sugar or cotton

13 English colonies

1607 - 1752

The 13 colonies was first established in Virginia.Each state was founded by different people at different times as well for instance the people who founded Virginia was the London Company and the man who founded Maryland was Lord Baltimore.

Proprietary Colony

South Carolina was a proprietary colony in 1729. South Carolina was also know for its indigo.

Slave code

1650 - 1833

The slave code was made to keep the slaves in line and be less resistant to their masters.The slave code was made partly because of rebellions like the Stono rebellion.

Rice and indigo trade

The rice and indigo trade was mostly farmed by slaves in the 1600s and 1700s.

Royal colony

1685

South Carolina was made a royal colony on 1721 which was 8 years before North Carolina on 1729.A royal colony is a colony administrated by an appointed person of the same government.

French and Indian war

1689 - 1763

The final Colonial War was The conflict played out in Europe, India, and North America. In Europe, and Sweden.

Yemassee war

1715 - 1717

The yemassee war was between British settlers of South Carolina and some Native American tribes.The yemassee won the war.many people were killed in the war and the colony was al,ost destroyed.

Stone rebellion

1739 - 1740

The stone rebellion was a led by a man named Jemmy.Jemmy recruited 60 slaves and burned many house killing around 20 white men before being confronted by 20 well armed men and later getting killed.

Sugar act

1764 - 1766

The sugar act was passed so the British could pay the debt they owed to other countries for fighting with them and clearing their debts of home and others destroyed property.

Regulator movement

the Regulator Movement) was a North and South Carolina uprising, lasting from about 1765 to 1771.

The revolutionary war is a follow up of the Declaration of Independence where the Americans fight in a war for their freedom.

The tea act was on of many acts to take down the debt from the 7 year war.

The Revolutionary War was a war that America had to fight for it's independence.The war was fought between the 13 colony's (America) and Britain.

The Cherokee lost many people in the Cherokee war and they also lost the Cherokee war.

The battle of Camden was started when a American general had a mission to clear the british from the carolinas.The American general was later killed during battle after being caught in enemy lines.

On March 4,1789 the Articles Of Confederation were replaced with U.S Constitution.The reason they made the Articles of confederation was so they could have a constitution.

Battle of cowpens

January 17, 1781

The battle of cowpens lasted only a hour.America won that battle against the British.

Battle of Eutaw springs

September 8, 1781 - September 9, 1781

The Americans won the battle of Eutaw springs.We had many people that were captured killed or wounded after the battle.

The 3/5 compromise mean that every slave was counted 3/5 of a person.

The great compromise was also known as the Connecticut Compromise.

Cotton is trade and sold to make money.

The cotton gin was made by Eli Whitley. The cotton gin helped slaves with cotton and in reality made slavery last longer.

Embargo

The embargo act cut off all shipping. The reason the president made the embargo act was so the U.S were not attacked by British ships cutting off sea routes.

War of 1812

1812 - 1815

The war of 1812 lasted 32 months.The war of 1812 involved the United States and the British empire.

Denmark vesey plot

July 14, 1822

The Denmark vessey plot involved a certain man that was trying to make a slave revolution.On the day the plot was executed 131 men were charged with conspiracy 95 of the men were convicted and 35 were hanged.

Ft Sumter

The F.t Sumter is located in the Charleston Harbor and was used to take down a fort and amazingly did not kill any people.

William T. Sherman

February 8,1829 - February 14,1891

William T.Sherman was many things not counting a soldier but also an author business man and a teacher. He was also a general for the union during the civil war.

Abolitionist movement

The abolitionist movement was made to enforce emancipation of all of the slaves

Nullification controversy

It was a crisis that was created by the ordinance of Nullification.

Robert smalls

April 5, 1839 - February 23, 1913

He was a slave and amazing other things like a politician and a sea captain.

Kansas Nebraska act

This act created the territories of Nebraska and Kansas.

Dred Scott decision

March 6, 1857

It involved a man named Dred Scott and he escaped punishment since he lived in Illinois which was a free state.

Election of 1860

November 6, 1860

This is the date of when Abraham Lincoln was elected.

Creation of the confederate states of America

1861 - 1865

These states had this name because of three reasons. The first is that they left the union. The second reason is because of they thought the people failed to enforce the fugitive slave act. The third reason is because they thought slavery was right.

Civil war

April 12, 1861 - May 9, 1865

This war was started over to abolish slavery.

"Total War"

Total war was used many times William T Sherman used it as well. The point of total war was to annihilate the enemy and destroy everything they have.

Lincoln's Assassination

April 14, 1865

John Wilkes assassinated Abraham Lincoln on this date in a theater while he was while he was watching a play.

Secessionist

A secessionist is a act of seceding.

Port royal got its name from the battle of port royal during the civil war
