God calls Jeremiah to be a prophet in the 13th year of Josiah's reign (Jer. 1:2). Jeremiah is about 29 years old.

Zedekiah is Jehoiachin's uncle and Jehoiakim's brother. He is appointed ruler of Judah when Jehoiachin is taken captive. Nebuchadrezzar has Zedekiah and his family killed when he tries to flee Jerusalem during the siege.

Egypt briefly rules Judah until King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon defeats Pharaoh Necho in battle.
Nebuchadrezzar Starts Reign
Nebuchadrezzar starts his reign in Babylon. He defeats Egypt and takes control of Judah.
