Review what literature is available about the research question to gain better insight into the problem and assist in coming up with potential solutions. Compliment it with benchmarking as to how other successful hostels and small (of similar type) hotels use their digital presence to communicate their brand and set expectations. If possible emphasis will be put on competitors in the Netherlands, Flanders, and Ghent.

Design potential guests questionnaire

26 February 2018 - 8 March 2018

Design a questionnaire for the type of visitors that come into a hostel of the type of Hostel 47 with variables that are relevant to the research

Data collection and analysis

Collecting data

8 March 2018 - Approx. 24 March 2018

Part 1: Focus on collecting data from the guests of Hostel 47 at the location.
Best timing: Upon check in during the weekend and during weekend breakfast.
Permission: Granted

Part 2: Collect data from potential Hostel 47 guests.
How: Utilize my own network of fellow travelers / Utilize our Odisee and KU Leuven student groups to find people fitting the profile for the survey respondents

Part 3: Review and collect data from Hostel 47's social media and profiles to identify what parts of it could be used

Part 4: Upon evaluating that not enough (or useful enough) data has been collected perform a third survey

Data analysis

23 March 2018 - 6 April 2018

Analyze the collected data, build appropriate graphs and tables. Draw a fitting conclusion based on it.


Writing First draft

Approx. 6 April 2018 - 20 April 2018

Based on the literature review, field research and data analysis finalize appropriate solutions to the problem. Complete in the desired timeframe.

Complete Final thesis

25 April 2018 - 23 May 2018

Based on the feedback on the initial draft make the appropriate changes to accomodate the desired result.

Final thesis reflection and preparation

23 May 2018 - 28 May 2018

Time spent for final proofreading, feedback from others, printing/submission, and final reflection window for any changes.
