Nintendo and Silicon Graphics Inc. announced a global joint partnership and licensing agreement surrounding Project Reality.

August 23, 1993

The console's design was publicly revealed for the first time.

Approx. March 15, 1994

Nintendo pushed back the release of Project Reality.

Approx. May 15, 1995

Nintendo pushed back the release to April 1996 from Christmas of 1995, and later back again to June 23, 1996.

The completed Nintendo 64 was fully unveiled to the public in a playable form.

November 24, 1995

The Nintendo 64 is released in Japan.

June 23, 1996

The first N64 is sold in North America, along with Pilotwings and Super Mario 64.

September 26, 1996

350,000 of 500,000 consoles are sold in the first 3 days

Approx. September 30, 1996

Mario Kart 64 is released.

December 14, 1996

GoldenEye 007 is released.

August 25, 1997

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is released
