Pheidippides ran from Marathon to Athens after the Athenian army defeats Persia

490 BC

According to legend, Pheidippides ran 26 miles from Marathon to Athens carrying a message. When he arrived in Athens, he collapsed from heat exhaustion and cried "Victory" before he died. This is how marathons have their named and they are just over 26 miles long.

Hippocratic Oath was written
