In 1942 both Karl's aunt and grandmother were sent to a concentration camp. In 1944 they were liberated.
On November 14, 1942 Karl is drafted into the U.S. military.
On April 19, 1943 Karl became an official U.S. citizen.
In 1944 Karl's Infantry landed in the already liberated town of Marsielles.
In 1948 Karl met Gloria, a holocaust survivor.
They later married.
