Our glorious leader, Jo Stalin, met with Great Britain and the United States in the Yalta conference where he successfully got us a ton of land and said we would join the Japanese war. And he made the United Nations.

The treachorous Truman and churchill discussed our leader,Stalin's, "violation of rights" in eastern European nations

Marshall Plan

1947 - 1948

The dumb United States thinks they can prevent the spread of communism by giving aid to to countries in Western Europe. It cost them 12.5 billion

Formation of NATO

1949 - 2013

Notrh Atlantic Treaty Organization- People in Europe and America are so scared of us Soviets they had to make a pact to try to keep our communism out. Pansies.

Korean War

1950 - 1953

So after WWII Korea was split on the 38 degree north latitude line where the north was given up to Soviet and south was given up to Americans after the Japanese surrendered. It was North Korea and China vs. UN forces and south Korea. Pretty much no one won because we had a cease fire.

Formation of Warsaw Pact

1955 - 1991

So we made an alliance with the communist states to our west as a result of the Pansy NATO people.

Suez Canal Crisis

1956 - 1957

Egypt tried to take over the Suez canal which was occupied by the scum Brit bags. The dirty British couldn't 1v1 Egypt so they requested support from Israelis and the French and eventually took it back. But they were pressured from other nations to give ti back.

Sputnik launched

We were the first to launch a satellite suckas!

Cuban Missile Crisis

July 1962 - August 1962

So USSR sent Cuba missiles b/c theey thought USA couldn't resist communist expansion. US gets mad and blocks Cuba off and then we decide we dont want cuba to get invaded so we dip off. USA got lucky

Vietnam War

1964 - 1975

So North Vietnam with help from USSR and China fought the poopy United States and the South. The war ended through Nixon's pansy vietnamization plan.

Detente

1970 - 1974

Lyndon Johnson vs. Brezhnev - policy of lessening Cold War Tensions

SALT talks

1972 - 1977

strategic arms limitation talks- Limited amounts of inter continental ballistic missiles a country could have. Nixon and Brezhnez did it

Invasion of Afghanistan

1979

USSR tried to invade Afghanistan after a Muslim revolt almost changed its government. Later the USA armed the resistance movement against the USSR called the Taliban

Regan's Strategic defense initiative

Moved away from Detente and increased spending on military and defending against enemy missiles so that our glorious country would have to make more decisions between military and economy

February 1945 - February 28, 1945

Our great leader, Franklin D. Roosevelt, met with the leaders of Great Britain and the Soviet Union (fart noise). FDR was feeling quite under the weather, so OF COURSE, Jo Stal decided to be a jerk. He took advantage of the the western European countries, which they only allowed him to do because they wanted to maintain peace. Jo claimed that he would give free elections to the Eastern Europeans but Churchill was skeptical of Jo and his demands.

Potsdam Conference

July 18, 1945 - July 25, 1945

Our man Truman, Stalin, and Churchill met in Germany. Truman pressed Stalin for free elections, but once again, Stalin refused.

Vietnam War

1946 - 1975

This war was fought between North and South Vietnam over the dispute of forms of government. North was Communist, South wasn't...you get the picture.

Marshall Plan

1948 - 1951

SOO....Western Europe was not doing to well. All sorts of economic problems were causing the countries to be unproductive and in debt. Luckily, this awesome american, George Marshall suggested that we help out the countries over in Europe (so hospitable). This invented the Marshall plan. We gave machinery, food, and other necessities to the struggling European countries.

Formation of NATO

1949 - 2013

When the Berlin blockade made Western Europe go crazy with fear, we formed with ten European nations and Canada to form the North Atlantic Treat Organization. Crushed it.

1949 - 1950

The Russian got kinda crazy. And by kinda, I mean a lot. And by crazy, I mean absolute mayhem. They exploded their first atomic bomb. This did not sit well with us. Our rocken Prez. Truman decided that we needed to develop a more powerful weapon before them crazy Russians did.

Korean War

1950 - 1953

Just north of the 38th parallel, the Japanese surrendered to the Soviets. South, the Japanese surrendered to the Americans.....awkward... So now we have half a communist Korea, and non- Communist Korea. We were determined to keep South Korea non-communist. We supplied them with means necessary to battle. After lots and lots of fighting, Korea remained divided.

Formation of War Saw Pact

1955 - 1991

So once the Soviet Union saw that we were getting friendly with other nations, they became threatened. They created the Warsaw Pact and were in alliance with the Soviet Union, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania. They then created the Berlin wall.

Suez Canal

1956 - 1957

Egypt took control of the Suez Canal.(The British were already in control) The British got pretty ticked off, so they made an agreement with France and Israel to take back the canal. The Israelis quickly defeated the Egyptians, but the world community got kinda pushy. They made the Europeans withdraw from the canal, leaving it to Egypt's control.

Sputnik launched

1957 - 1978

The Soviets launched their first unmanned satellite, Sputnik. This FREAKED us out and made us realize that we hadn't been devoting enough of our money and time to scientific research and development.

Cuban Missile Crisis

July 1962 - August 1962

Super frightening. We had missiles directed at the Soviet Union, and there were missiles directed at the U.S. from Cuba. There for, we basically thought we were all gonna blow up. Cuba ended up removing their missiles though, so it was all good.

Detente

1970

Detente was a policy that reduced Cold War tensions. Nixon made these arrangements.

SALT Talks

1972

Strategic Arms Limitation Talks. This was between Nixon and Bredhnev which limited numbers of specific types of missiles that a country could have.

Invasion of Afghanistan

1979

Those crazy Soviets attempted an invasion of Afghanistan. We armed the Taliban (the resistance movement against the Soviets).

Regan's Strategic Defense Initiative

1983

This was an attempt to protect against enemy missiles. It was not actually used but was a symbol of anti- Communism.
