Temujin becomes ruler


Temujin was the clan leader of the Mongols who sought to unify the Mongols. He defeated rivals one by one conquering land.

Temujin becomes Genghis Khan


Temujin accepts the title of "Genghis Khan" meaning the universal ruler of the Mongols. Genghis lead the empire to conquer most of Asia.

Invasion of Jin Empire


The Mongols invaded the norther Jin Empire. Genghis's attention turned to the Islamic region west of the Mongols.

Mongols Control Central Asia


The Mongols take control of all of Central Asia. They conquered lands one by one until they possessed all of Central Asia.

Death of Genghis Khan


Genghis Khan died of illness. His successors continued to expand the empire but his great rule came to an end.

A Divide of the Empire


The Mongols divided the empire into four parts. These parts were

Marco Polo travels to China


He traveled the Silk Road and arrived at Khans court. He learned many Asian languages and served for the Khan for 17 years.

Great Khans sent fleets to Japan


The Great Khan sent large groups against Japan. The Mongols made the Koreans build and provide provisions for the boats.

The Death of Kublai Khans


Kublai Khan died and the Yuan dynasty started to fade and decline. There was conflict which who would rule after his death between family members.


Chandragupta claims throne

321 BC

In 321 BC Chandragupta gathered an army and killed the unpopular Nanda king which lead to him claiming the throne.

Mauryan Empire Expands

303 BC

After years of fighting, Chandragupta defeated Seleucus. By 303 the Mauryan Empire stretched itself more than 2,000 miles.

Chandragupta's son assumed throne

301 BC

In 301 BC Chandraguptas son took the throne. He then ruled for two years.

Asoka Becomes king

269 BC

The grandson of Chandragupta becomes kings in 269. He waged war and expanded the empire.

Asokas Death

232 BC

Asoka failed to hold the empire together and died in 232 BC.

Forgeign Invaders

185 BC

Greeks, Persians and Central Asains poured into northern India. These invaders dirupted Indian Society.

Great Kings of Kings


After Chandrgupta got married he took the title "Great kings of Kings" in ad 320.



samudra became king in 335 Ad. he expanded his empire through 40 years of conquest.

Chandra Gupta II

375 - 415

Chandra Gupta II ruled from 375-415 Ad. He strenghtended through peaceful means.

Fall of the Empire


The Gupta empire broke into small kingdoms. Many were overrun by the Hunas or other central Asian nomads. the emipre ended in 535.

The destroyed Delhi


Timur the Lame destroyed Delhi in 1398.

Babur founds an empire


An 11 year old boy named Babur inherited a kingdom in Uzbekastan and Tajikstan.

a brilliant general


in 1526 Babur led 12,000 in a victory against an army of 100,000 troops.


1556 - 1605

Baburs gradson ruled India with wisdom and tolerance for 49 years.

Mumtaz Mahal dies


Mimtaz Muhal died when she was 39 while giving birth to her 14 child.

shanh jahan becomes ill


Shah Jahan becomes ill in 1657. His four sons scramble for the throne.

Aurangzeb ruled the empire

1658 - 1707

Aurangzeb, third son of Shah Jahan became emporer. He was a master at military strategy and an agressive empire builder.


Laura dies


The plague killed A girl Laura who was the main focus of many poems

He wins control over Florence and ruled until. He died in 1664 but his family continued to rule the empire.

Johann Gutenberg


Johann Gutenberg developed a printing press.

Turks conquer Constantinople


The turks sonquered Constantiople in 1453.

France and Englands wars ended


France and England's Hundred Years' War ended at this time.
