Rise of Napoleon and Creation of an Empire
1789 - 1799
He became the emperor of France in 1804. He was a strong leader that lead his country and took control of lots of land including; most of Europe from Spain to the edge of Russia.
Tennis Court Oath
The 3rd Estates General decides to meet in a tennis court when they are locked out of Versailles. They make an oath to never separate until a constitution in France has been made.
storming of the bastille
july 14, 1789
People were mad at King Louis for putting troops all around Paris all armed, but with no gun powder. So the people went to the Bastille where they kept the gunpowder. They got in a huge battle and ended up freeing all the prisoners.
Reign of terror
September 5, 1793 - July 27, 1794
Robespierre took over the government in a moment of weakness when all the civil wars were going on in France. Any one that would speak against him would be executed or put in jail. It is called the Reign of Terror because of all the horrible things that happened.
Napoleon had taken over most of Europe but he wanted more land so he decided to invade Russia. When he entered he had a huge battle and then entered the town of Moscow. The town was abandoned he during the winter there most of the soldiers died and starved. When they returned home they had lost control over there land.
Congress of Vienna
November 1, 1814 - 1815
A conference of major ambassadors in Europe. Its purpose was to decide about the political situation of Europe after the defeat of Napoleon.
