This act has been updated many times since it was released. It has now been replaced with The Animal Welfare Act 2006. This act was the first general animal protection law.
It protects captive animals, which include:
Zoo animals, farming livestock, and domestic animals.
The main offence of cruelty include
Beating, kicking, Ill treating, over-riding, over-working, tourturing, and frightening animals.
Causing unnecessary by doing or omitting to do any act.
Conveying or varying animals in a manner which may cause unnecessary suffering.
Preforming any operation without due care and humanity.
Allow frightening or baiting of any animal ore the use of any premises for such acts.
Administering poison, injurious drugs, or any other substance to the animal.
