Also known as the Crimea Conference was the World War Two meeting where the heads of government of the United States (Roosevelt), Soviet Union (Stalin), and the United KIngdom (Churchill) discussed what was going to be the postwar reorganization of Germany and Europe.

This is when Churchill delivers his popular speech where he says the famous phrase "... an iron curtain has descended on Europe." Which refers Eastern Europe was essentially being controlled by the Soviet Union.

June 5th, 1947
Also referred to as the European Recovery Program this was a U.S program providing aid to Western Europe. Though the plan was rejected full heartedly by Stalin and any Eastern Bloc country due to considering accepting aid was reprimanded severely.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization formed with member states Canada, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, France, Belgium, Portugal, United Kingdom, United States, Luxembourg, Norway, and the Netherlands.
October 23rd, 1956
This began as a Hungarian protest against Communist rule in Budapest. It quickly gathered momentum and on 24th October Soviet tanks entered Budapest. The tanks withdrew on 28th October and a new government was formed which quickly moved to introduce democracy, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. The Soviet tanks returned on 4th November encircling Budapest. The Prime Minister Imre Nagy made a World broadcast that Hungary was under attack from the Soviet Union and calling for aid. Hungary fell to Russia on 10th November 1956.
Cuban MIssile Crisis
October 16 1962 - October 28 1962
A US spy plane reported sighting the construction of a Soviet nuclear missile base in Cuba. President Kennedy set up a naval blockade and demanded the removal of the missiles. War was averted when the Russians agreed on 28th October to remove the weapons. The United States agreed not to invade Cuba.
November 22, 1963
This is the day where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey was arrested for the assassination of the President. But it is thought to be that he was not the sole culprit and that they could have been communist or CIA complicity
