When I was about nine years old, I wanted to start making my own money. I couldn't work, obviously, but I wanted to find ways to earn myself some cash, cause I wanted to buy stuff from my favourite store called Stroberi without asking my parents for money all the time.
One of my parents friend came back from his trip to Bali, and he got this big bag of hand-painted beads and decided to give them to me. So, then I had an idea, me and my friend, Holly, decided to create jeweller using those beads and sell them to other people in the apartment building where I used to live at that time. I would get 60% of the profit and Holly would get 40%. Then, we started making 100,000 Rp ($10) each day from doing that, it doesn't sound like much but money value is different in Indonesia and it was a lot for a nine year old. Then we also decided to do peoples nails who were relaxing by the pool. We also asked another of our guy friend who was a few years younger than us to join our 'business'. We wanted him to go around and spread the word about our jewellery business, and in return, we would buy him any snack from the store. This wasn't something that made me a lot of money, but it was something I look back in and remember, and it gave me good experiences on making money.
