Tsar Nicholas the 2nd was not originally meant to become the Tsar. His brother was actually supposed to so he wasn't groomed for that role. As a result he wasn't good at it when he began his reign as Tsar and was not liked by most people as a leader.
Steelworkers in St. Petersburg were having a relatively peaceful protest. Tsarist soldiers began shooting the unarmed civilians. This led to the deaths of many people. It caused the 1905 revolution.
