September 1st 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Warsaw surrendered to the Germans on September 27th. Britain and France, standing by their guarantee of Poland's border, declared war on Germany on September 3rd 1939.

Invasion of Normandy. June 6th the allied forces of Britain, America, Canada, and France attacked German forces on the coast of Normandy. With a huge force over 150,000 soldiers, the allies attacked and gained victory.

August 6th 1945
During world war ll an American B-29 bomber dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The bomb wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people. Later on more people die from radiation exposure.
