Germna forces attack Poland from the east and west to split it in half. HItler used the "blitzkrieg" strategy, or "lightning war". Poland attempted to withstand the attack, but failed and was taken over.
Atack on Pearl Harbour
Approx. December 7, 1941
The Japanese surprise attacked Pearl Harbour, which drove the U.S out of isolation. The Japanese soon surrendered after the nuclear attack against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 226,000 were killed in the nuclear attack.
The Battle of Stalingard
1942 - February 2, 1943
A battle during WWII, where Soviet advances were stopped. It marked the last advances of Germany going into Eastern Europe and Russia. This was the first major German loss.
Battle Of Midway
Approx. June 4, 1942 - Approx. June 7, 1942
The U.S defeated a Japanese attack against Midway Atoll. It was fought with almost entirely aircraft. Japanese and American Naval powers were equal.
Approx. June 6 1944
Allied forces invade Northern France. They landed on beach landinds in Normandy, and headed towards France. It's one of the biggest seaborne invasions in history.
May 8, 1945
Allied victory in Europe, 1985. Allies were celebrated formal acceptance. The Nazis have surrendered.
Approx. August 6, 1945 - Approx. August 9, 1945
America nuked two cities in Japan. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were nuked, killing 146,000 in Hiroshima, and 80,000 people in Nagasaki.
August 14, 1945
Japan had surrendered unconditionally to America. The formal surrender took place on the U.S.S. Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay.
