The Babylonians conquered Mesopotamia around 1894 BCE under the leadership of King Hammurabi. They would rule for over 1000 years and were finally conquered in 539 BCE by Cyrus the Great.
Code of Hammurabi
The Code of Hammurabi is one of the oldest deciphered writings in the world. It is also thought to be on of the first set of laws. When Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon he took it and placed copies all around the Persian lands for everyone to see.
