Fashion designer Anthony Melat rented a first floor aluminum sided house, trying to figure out how to renovate their first house to fit into the 1880's fashion industry, home-living materials. His friend Jamie moved in aswell and he was a photgrapher for fashion.

Distinct silouhettes in womens fashion
Fukai 214- "princess line", a dress horizontal waist seam, molded to body by vertical seams and tucks creating a body hugging silouhette.
1880 - 1889
Woman began to wear their hair more neatly in the 1880s- curls, now tucked into "tight chignons" as high collared wear came into play. Tall, narrow hats were worn directly on top of the head with this hair.
The Aesthetic Movement
The Aesthetic dress consisted of a dress with a loosely-fit waist, puffed sleeves, and, was often worn without a corset or heavy petticoats and bustles (Tortora 384)

1880 - 1889
The bustle silouhette was accommodated by jackets and coat-like garments.
The aesthetics dress influenced fashion makers to make the Rational dress; basically the exact same dress with a different name. Neither the aesthetics dress or rational dress were kept in the mainstream.

Tortora 386- bustles returned, hard, shell like protrusion from the small of the back. Undergarments played a big role in this silhouette, becoming really complex.
He was a famous irish poet and playwright- he wrote "The Philosophy of the Dress" He was one of the leading adherents in the Aesthetic movement. He ended up creating his own version of the Aesthetic Dress with velvet.
