Arrests and Detentions

March 15, 2011 - March 10, 2013

Mukhabarat starts unlawful detentions and arbitrary arrests of protestors or "offenders" of the government.
They torture and/or kill these "offenders".
This is on going.

Increasing Multitude

March 15, 2011 - July 2012

Tens of thousands of people have been detained and the numbers are increasing daily.

Protests Begin

March 15, 2011 - March 10, 2013

Anti-government protests begin in Syria, prompting the Mukhabarat (an intelligence group made up out of 4 intelligence branches working together to keep Syrian government officials in control.)
Protests are on going

Emergency Law Lifted

April 2011

Mukhabarat has a long history of detain people without arrest warrants. With the lifting of the Emergency Law, the international courts have the opportunity to set legislative and judicial law. Mukhabarat has decided to ignore any and all of these laws.


May 2011 - March 10, 2013

Mukhabarat is running out of room in their detention facilities so they decide to use schools, stadiums, military bases, etc. to house the increasing number of detainees.
This is on going.

When asked about the reports of torture and unlawful detention, the Syrian Government denied all charges.
