Coca Cola announced that it would recycle a used bottle or can for every new one sold by 2030. It has also pledged to increase the amount of recycled content in plastic bottles to 50 per cent by 2030, and is experimenting with different collection techniques for recycling its products, including backing government and industry efforts.

In April, Swiss food giant Nestlé pledged to make all its plastic packaging 100 percent recyclable or reusable by 2025. It wants to encourage the use of plastics that allow better recycling rates and eliminate or change the complex combinations of plastic that make recycling so difficult.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings plans to get rid of single-use straws across 26 fleets. "The company will also ban single-use plastic straws at its two island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye." Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings plans to get rid of 50 million single-use straws.

Seattle plans to use a ban on plastic straws, utensils, and cocktail picks. If businesses do not comply then they will face a $250 fine.

Starbucks is wanting to get rid of single-use plastic straws from all its stores by 2020.
Starbucks is also testing a 6 cent paper cup charge at all 950 of its coffeehouses in Britain.
September 2018 - 2019
McDonald's is planning to not use plastic straws in Ireland and Scottland restaurants.
The business said it would start a phased rollout of paper straws in all 1,361 of its sites in the two countries.

“Alaska Airlines uses 22 million plastic stir straws and citrus picks each year. Next month, it plans to replace them. It will use stir straws made from white birch wood. Citrus picks will be made of bamboo. Farmer Brothers wrote to Shelby saying it would replace plastic stirrers with wooden ones.”

Volvo has announced that it will use 25 percent of plastics used in its car models to 2025 will use recycled materials.
