In 1799, Napoleon seized all power over France. In 1804 he crowned him self emperor of France. Due to his military experience, Napoleon was able to effectively take over surrounding European nations and build his empire
Meeting of estate general
Due to the financial crisis of France, king Louis called a general estates meeting. It was the very first meeting since 1614 over 150 years later. It was made up of three estates, the clergy, the nobility and the rest of the French society
The tennis court oath
In June 1789, the third estate took the Tennis Court Estate promising to never separate from the estates general. This was the moment that was extremely important to the French Revolution. After that the 3rd assembly began to call them selves the National Assembly
Storming of bastille
In July 1789 the 3rd estate stormed the Bastille prison. They held the prison guards captive and demanded that they handed out the weapons. The prison guards eventually surrendered and the town went into complete rage of violence
Reign of terror
September 1793 - July 1794
This part of the French Revolution resulted in mass execution and violence in the country. The people turned on their ruler, Maximilien Robespierre and killed him for treason. Without a ruler , France began to move towards the rising of a civil war and violence was always the solution to every conflict.
Napoleons empire collapses
Approx. 1804 - 1815
Napoleon ruined his own empire based off poor economic decisions. He posed a blockade to England to stop them to from communicating with the rest of Britain in efforts to conquer them. Then he unsuccessfully invaded Spain. After he moved into Russia, his military was too weak so all the European countries wire able to come together and defeat him.
Congress of Vienna
This was the final act solution to the Napoleon wars. Prussia, Russia, Great Britain, and Austria were all in to the treaty to overthrow Napoleon. This was deemed to be the most comprehensive treaty to Europe
