After the Bolshevik Revolution made the Soviet Union go into a 3 year civil war, the new dictator Lenin formed the Russian Communist Party to support the Red Army that was fighting the White Army. As a result of his request of giving up food to feed the Red Army, millions of people died of famine. This made people uneasy, threatening the government, leading to Lenin forming a New Economic Policy to refrain from the nationalization of War Communism. He then later established Russia's first secret police, which fought back any opposition.
Later on, the Red Army won the CIvil War. A treaty was made among several countries in 1922 (Soviet Union, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan), forming the USSR. Lenin was the first head of it, but died 2 years later because of recurring health problems.
