Beginning of Babylonia

1894 bc

The Babylonian Empire emerged as an independent nation in 1894 BC. The capital of this new nation was Babylon.

Battle of Ninevah

612 bc

The Babylonians sided with the Medes, Persians, and Chaldeans to revolt against the Assyrians. This led to the de-urbanization and depopulation of the Assyrian empire.

Battle of Carchemish

605 bc

A great battle between the Babylonians and the Assyrians. This is where the Babylonians finally defeated the Assyrians, wiping most of them out.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon

605 bc

This garden was ordered to be built by Nebuchadnezzar II. The garden is one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.

God was working through him because several significant things happened under his ruling. During his time the hanging gardens were created, Babylonia became a huge and thriving nation, and most importantly him defeating the kingdom of Judah.

God Using Babylon to Bring Judgement on Judah

586 bc

God used his hands in 586 to bring judgment on Judah because they were worshipping idols. He did this by letting the Babylonians take over Judah

End of Babylonia

539 bc

Babylonia fell for the last time in 539 BC. It was conquered by the Persian Empire under Cyprus the Great
