In 1789, the King Louis XVI called a meeting of the Estates General. It was the first meeting of the Estates General called since 1614. He called the meeting because the French government was having financial problems.

On 20 June 1789, the members of the French Third Estate took the Tennis Court Oath (French: Serment du Jeu de Paume), vowing "not to separate and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established".

A meeting of important European powers to discuss peaceful matters after the collapse of Napoleon's empire. The Congress kept peace within europe.
Fall of Napoleon Empire
Napoleon surrendered and gave up his place as a French Ruler. He conquered most of Europe; however he was unsuccessful with the conquest of England.
