The Abbasids take over the rule of the Islamic empire from the Umayyads. They move the capital to Baghdad. The battle is now called the Banquet of Blood. The Golden Age of Islam begins. They built the first astronomical observatory, translated ancient Greek texts
into Arabic, and perfected and spread the Arabic alphabet and Arab numerals. Even though the Abbasid Caliphs were Muslim they still allowed other religions to be practiced in areas under their rule.
