A game set in Greek mythology about an anti-hero character Kratos who summons Ares to deal with his life and soul in exchange for strength and might. Ultimately, Kratos defeats Ares and takes his place as the God of War.

The second installment of the hit which got even more popular because of the up-close combats with Gods and intricate storylines. This game showed a twist in the storyline where the Zeus betrays Kratos because of the fear of him gaining strength and taking over.

A mobile game installment came soon after the God of War to gain popularity among mobile devices. The game did not have any separate storyline but rather the gameplay which was unique for mobile games during that time.

This game was exclusively launched on PlayStation Portable (PSP) and delved with the adventures Kratos had after defeating Ares and becoming God of War. It also strengthens the game's connection with Greek Mythology since Kratos deals with sun God Helios and other Persian enemies.

This was the biggest installment of the franchise which featured the ultimate battle between Kratos and all other Gods including Zeus. This game was remastered and made a fortune for Santa Monica Studios and Sony. The ending of these series showed a chaotic world where no God exists and Kratos, even though killed himself, escaped death.

Released with God of War 3, Ghost of Sparta was takes a journey back to when Kratos defeated Ares and found out about his long lost brother, Deimos, who was kept hostage in the underworld by Zeus because of a prophecy which claimed Olympus will fall by the hands of a marked warrior. Unfortunately, Deimos dies in the effort of escaping with Kratos and Kratos sets out to take revenge

This installment was another flashback theme which explained the series of events that led to the original God of War and how Kratos was kept hostage by Ares. This installment did not do great and Sony decided to halt the funds for Santa Monica Studios until they come up with the next installment to extend God of War 3.

God of War (2018) presented a new start for Kratos with new weapons after the destruction and death of everyone he knew in his previous life. This game begins in Nordic mythology with a new character, his son Atreus, who is also learning to become as strong as his father. This series was the best extension and a fresh start with new enemies and stories which Kratos deserved.
