I actually started singing in NYCoS (National Youth Choirs of Scotland) when I was in primary 3 (1998) but in 2007 I successfully auditioned for the National Girls Choir of Scotland and attended a residential singing course with them. We did a mini tour around Scotland and our programme could be heard on BBC 3.
-for want of a better expression. Having been brought up in a family with Christian beliefs but no strict rules and regulations according to those beliefs, I was very much left to make this decision myself. When I was about 13 I decided that I believed in a loving God and in the teachings of the Gospels, I promised to commit my life to these. This has had a huge effect on my life as it influences (or should do) every decision I make and the relationships I have with others.
When the current leaders left school I took over the running of the Scripture Union Club in School. We had a meeting every Wednesday lunchtime.
I was the 'youth member' on an interview panel for a new youthworker for SCYI (Stewartry Churches Youth Initiative).
IN my final year of school I took over as Director and Leader of the Academy's drama club. This was an incredibly challenging role and I did not succeed as I would have hoped but Iearned a lot from it and it was not a totally negative experience.
