An agreement between Canada and America regarding fishing rights in the Pacific. This marks the first treaty that Canada had negotiated and signed independently, as it's own nation.
The Balfour Report
A formal document confirming Canada's autonomy. It declared that Canada is its own country, and is equal to its Dominions.
The King-Byng Crisis
June 26, 1926
Governor General, Lord Julian Byng, refused the advice of Canadian PM King to dissolve the current Parliament and call an election. King won the election, and that was the last time a Governor General ever refused a PM's advice.
The Statute of Westminster
December 11, 1931
A British law that clarified the freedom and independence of Canada and Britain's other former colonies. It gave legal power to Canada's Parliament over Britain, and turned the British Empire into the British Commonwealth.
