Approx. September 28, 2019 - Approx. October 1, 2019
The ovum usually breaks down and exits the body with the menstrual flow once it reaches the uterus.
The sperm may fertilize the ovum once it reaches the Fallopian tube.
Sperm can fertilize an ovum for 48-72 hours.
October 2, 2019 - October 31, 2019
The egg attaches to the lining of the uterus.
Most critical stage for brain and spine development.
The heart begins to pump.
November 1, 2019 - November 30, 2019
The fetus is about 6mm long at the beginning of this month.
Face, eyes, ears, limbs develop and begin to take shape.
The bones begin to form.
December 1, 2019 - December 30, 2019
The mouth, eyelids, and nostrils begin to form and take on shape.
The fingers and toes are almost completely formed.
All of the organs are present but still not mature.
December 31, 2019 - January 29, 2020
The fetus is about 3 inches long and weighs a once.
The fetus can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and move around.
Facial features become more clear.
January 30, 2020 - February 29, 2020
The teeth continue to develop.
Organs begin to mature.
The fetus becomes more active.
March 1, 2020 - March 30, 2020
The fetus is about 8-10 inches long and about 8-12 oz.
Fetus appears wrinkled.
Breathing movements develop.
March 31, 2020 - April 30, 2020
Size increases; 10-12 inches, 1 1/2-2 pounds.
Periods of movement.
Periods of rest.
May 1, 2020 - May 30, 2020
Rapid weight gain.
Reflex jerking in response to loud noises.
Moves into head down position.
May 31, 2020 - June 29, 2020
Movements decrease because fetus has less room to move.
Obtains disease-fighting antibodies from the mother.
Descends into pelvis; ready for birth.
