History of Voting Rights

Women lose the right to vote in all states.

1776 - 1807

Starting in the 1770's through the 1800's women were losing their right to vote in all the cities and states. They call it the women's suffrage because women had to go through so much to gain there rights back.

1776-1789

1787 - 1789

The Constitutional Convention cannot agree on any other nation voting rights standard so they leave it up to each individual state.

Constitutional Amendment

1867 - 1870

All states are required to recognize Black and White males as citizens

15th Amendment

1870

Gave all men the right to vote regardless of their race.

The Women Suffrage amendment was passed

1878 - 1884

A womes suffrage amendment is introduced in the united states Congress.

Voting Rights Act

1965

All Americans got the right to vote.
