Democracy gets introduced to the Greek
(This event marks the Transition out of monarchy)
Under the pressure of the barons, King John signs the Magna Carta:
- everybody has a right of justice
- nobody could be imprisoned for no reason
Although systems like this had already been used before, King Edward was the first to call it Parliament.
This act states, that everybody can challenge his judgement. The government was presuured into passing the act, because of the abuse of power.
The Monarch now ruled by the grace of the Parliament
American colonies gained independence from England
The dethroned King Louis XVI was executed and France went from being an absolute monarchy into being a republic.
Establishing the principles of self-government and separation of powers
Canada established the union, which turned the colonies, into the Dominion of Canada. This is the beginning of the democratic system we all know.
