Over the course of his lifetime (and even after his death), the founder of Islam, the prophet Muhammad helped slow the consumption of Wine. At the time of his death, Islam had become the dominant faith in most of Arabia. Later on, his adherents went to conquer all of Persia, Mesopotamia, Palestine and Syria, Egypt and the African coast, plus most of Spain. The Muslim´s duties include frequent prayer, almsgiving, and abstention from alcoholic drinks. As tradition says, Muhammad condemned alcohol - including Wine. This was after seeking divine guidance from Allah, about how to prevent drinking fights. The answer that was given, was to abstain from Wine and games because they´re abominations from Satan himself.
