A man named Jack Watts who was a scottish inventor, designed what is called a "steam engine". it was designed to generate power by expanding steam.

REFRIGERATION

1748

Before fridges were invented, people would cool down their food by adding ice or snow on top of it. The fridges was designed to cool down food. It was thought that the fridges would trap out the heat from one place to another in a small space.

INDEPENDENCE IN THE US

4/7/1776

For the Americans, this is a very important day because all thirteen American colonies which were controlled by the British Empire had been formed into one nation which of course became the United States of America

In 1720 a man named Thomas Wedgewood had drawn some pictures of how a camera would be made. In 1826, a French inventor name Joseph Niepce had completed the work by inventing it.

THE COTTON GIN

The cotton gin was designed to separate the seeds from cotton much, much quicker.

THE FACTORY ACTS

The factory acts are decisions made by the UK government where women and children were given a number of hours that they could work in factories and mills. Under 18's were only allowed to work for 12 hours.

THE SUEZ CANAL

1809 - 1869

The Suez Canal was designed in Egypt connecting to the Mediterranean Sea and The Red Sea. It was designed for travelling through Asia and Europe on water without having to go around Africa.

SLAVERY ABOLISHED

1833 - 1965

It was decided by the UK government that slavery would be abolished in India which was in 1833, and abolish slavery in the United Arab Emirates in 1965.

THE PANAMA CANAL

1881 - 1914

The panama canal is one of the biggest and hardest projects ever. It was designed on the Pacific and Atlantic ocean. The canal was the key to international trade, so it is very important.

AUTOMOBILE

The automobile back then would be called a car. Reasons for this is because it was used for transportation. It also contained gas, diesel fuel, electricity and Solar power.

WORLD WAR 1

1914 - 11/11/1918

It was a war that was globally but centered in Europe. It is considered as the great war if not known the largest war ever. Reasons of the war was because: nations started protecting their troops which caused a threat to other troops. Also, because there were groups of nations what are called "ALLIANCES" agreed to watch each other's backs so these formed a war between other alliances which was world war 1. Also, stronger nations started taking over weaker nations which made them want to fight back. And lastly, nations were attending to be number 1, by spreading the beliefs and their own way democracy into other nations.
