In Islam, the construction of the Masjid al-Nabawi was a point of great significance. Also known as the the Prophet’s Mosque, the Masjid al-Nabawi is deemed the second most sacred place in Islam. Located in Medina, this sacred place was the site of battle planning, political discussion, negotiation, and even prisoner confinement. However, I chose the construction of this specific mosque because it was built by Muhammad himself. Therefore, this mosque has a deeper connection to Muhammad, his teachings, his followers, and Islam as a whole. Rightfully considered the centre of the Muslim community, the Masjid al-Nabawi also houses Muhammad’s entombed and buried body.
