In June 2018, at my cheer camp we were doing a twist basket (a stunt where we throw the girl into the air and they do a trick) and she shifted over and when i followed her to catch her she landed right on my head and I got a concussion, I am still having some symptoms from it.

Laurence "Herkie" Herkimer held the first summer cheerleading clinic at Sam Houston State Teacher’s College, and went on to develop his signature “Herkie” jump, the spirit stick and the pom pom, all cheerleading staples to this day

Cheerleading became very popular and it grew so much that it could be found in almost every high school in the USA.

All Star cheerleading started in the late ‘80s, and grew rapidly through the ‘90s. Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), which taught higher level skills. The ‘80s decade brought the launch of many more event companies, as well as AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators), in 1987, the first association devoted to teaching safety to coaches and advisors.

In 1999 cheerleading was declared as a sport. But in 2013, it was declared the most dangerous sport over football. Cheerleading is a workout, people compete against each other, and it is a team effort.
2004

The USASF (U.S all star federation) hosted their first cheerleading worlds. The cheerleading worlds was for the highest level of all star cheerleading (level 5) to compete at and they went agaisnt teams from everywhere. The cheerleading worlds is still going on to this day, it just happened in April 2019, but it is so much more bigger now, it is the biggest competion levels 6 and 7 now go to.
2013

In 2013 the first summit was held. Summit is the biggest competition for levels 4 and below. Summit is basically worlds for lower levels.
2016

In 2016 level 6 was created. Level 6 is one level higher than level 5 and it can have people on the team as young as 17 and there is no age limit.
2019

In 2019 USASF said that level 5 restricted (it has the same tumbling as level 5, but level 4 stunts) is level 5, and then level 5 turned into level 6, and then level 6 turned into level 7, which is now the highest level in cheerleading.
