It was the acquisition of the territory of Louisiana by the US from France. The United States inquired 828,000 square miles of land. The purchase included the land of 15 current US states and 2 Canadian Provinces. This included the entirety of Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. Along with large portions of North Dakota, South Dakota and smaller portions of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and the 2 Canadian Provences of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
